I’m Jules, a Senior Digital Designer. I’ve had the privilege of working with some of the industries top award winning agencies and clients covering areas such as Fintech, Luxury, Fashion, Automotive, Smart Connected Products, FMCG, Ecommerce, Events, Kids, Games, AR and VR. I emerged from an art and coding environment. My main area of expertise is currently UI along with a blend of UX, however I no longer offer UX/UI. Experience is always conscious throughout the whole digital process.
My partner in crime Jim is a Visual Artist and Programmer, involved with interactive installations, expressive mobile apps, generative animation, music/sound visualisation and live performances. Jim has spoken and exhibited globally. You can find out more about his work here.
We’ve been working within digital for over 14 years and are based in Ampthill, Bedfordshire.
I have helped and advised small businesses by creating logos, branding, business cards, copy and responsive websites. I’ll work closely with you to create an easy to use website (I use Squarespace) and can also organise photo shoots (indoor and outdoor) for your product or service. Contact me for further enquiries.
What methods do I use for designing digital products?
I combine creativity, craft and user experience to produce high quality work for clients. Every brief and client is different, the methodology will differ and reflect this. The processes described below are just a glimpse. I’m happy to work with any task-management system and communication software for smooth collaboration on-site or remotely.
Working in teams
Over the years I have worked with talented individuals and cross-disciplinary teams to create the best possible solutions. From Clients and Directors to Developers or Interns, I work with everyone. Workshops are ideal spaces to share and collaborate ideas, a way of exploring curiosities, opening doors which lead to new opportunities.
Creative processes can differ depending on the project duration and phase. Workshops help establish core foundations and iterate overall strategies. This phase can involve scamping, defining, understanding user needs, prototyping, testing and continue refining and discovering new insights. Physical wall space can be used to inspire, present and define visions. Research and benchmarking can reveal effective patterns that work for similar models. It’s key to immerse ourselves within the brand and connected integrated campaigns/channels, and highlight features, functionalities and trends that may influence our thinking.
Sketch is my preferred choice of software for UI. Having an organised library of symbols and assets is imperative. I’ll also contribute towards interactions, transitions and motion. I’m keen to integrate motion into digital design. I currently use InVision as an effective prototyping tool, and further exploring Adobe XD, Sketch with Sketch Cloud.
As a creative I would like to focus attention on the visual crafts. The goal by the end of 2019 is to comfortably create motion and interaction designs. This will harness my methodology and support my visual concepting.
As you’ve probably read here, I’m also passionate about Photography and the understanding of light, composition, framing, focus, subject, the environment, time; they all impact our visual perspective so let’s apply this thinking and resource to tell compelling stories on and offline. I am expanding this area rapidly along with old school graphic design principles.
I’m currently studying towards a Diploma in Photography at the British Academy of Photography. I gained an MA Digital Practices, Hyperfictions at the University of Hertfordshire in 2004, with Distinction. And in 2000, I studied BA HONS Art & Design with Marketing Communications @ University of Northampton.

Used in schools around the world to teach kids about art and technology. Exhibited globally in London, US, Australia, Colombia, Northern Ireland and Beijing, China. Downloads of 20,000+.
Designed Composite (brand and UI) for iPad, made by James Alliban. Allows you to create artistic compositions using the front and back facing cameras. App ported over to WP7 and Surface with funding from Microsoft. Global downloads of over 7,800.
