BAFTA NOMINATED 2017:
INTERACTIVE CHILDREN'S CATEGORY
Visitors to 26 forests across England can now explore the world famous Gruffalo in AR. The Gruffalo Spotter (the first app of its kind) is made for woodland adventures where kids can track some mysterious footprints. Once the footprint have been identified, the characters are brought to life in stunning AR! Kids can photograph themselves with the characters and collect fun fact cards all in the app.
I worked with a highly talented team of producers, designers, 3D animators and AR specialists. Collaborating closely to produce detailed wireframes and user journeys in Sketch. A number of mobile designs were created in Photoshop along with a low and high fidelity prototype for mobile and tablet to assess design feasibility. The interface was kept simple, fun and family friendly using the highly pleasing assets from Magic Light Pictures.
The app was released in Feb 2017, and selected as a special feature by iPad App Store, and was nominated for a Children’s Bafta (Interactive Children’s Category). You can watch the exciting moments on YouTube at 58:35. The app is still available on iOS, Android and Amazon. Give it a go and try it out using the Gruffalo markers here!
